Helium is the second lightest elemental gas after hydrogen: The smallest of all molecules, it has the lowest boiling point of any element. The Helium atom is the most frequent element in the universe after hydrogen. Based on the outstanding physical properties of Helium, such as the inertness, the low molecular weight, the high diffusion capacity, the high thermal conductivity and the extremely low boiling point, it is well suited for numerous applications in many different industries
Typical examples are the use in healthcare to cool superconductive magnetic coils in magnetic resonance imagers (MRI) and in research to cool nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) equipment. Semiconductor manufacturers rely on it for protective atmospheres and epitaxial crystal growth. Other applications include heat treatment, pressurized rocket fuel, shielding gas for high-alloy welding processes, analytical instrument calibration, automotive airbag inflation and leak testing in various manufacturing processes.
At our transfill facilities, helium is re-packaged into tube trailers, dewars, multi-cylinder packs, regular cylinders or portable cylinders. Consequently, we have the infrastructure and reach to meet our customers’ needs across all supply modes worldwide.
